MOT’s
Having to book your MOT isn’t the most enjoyable of activities, however it is essential if you want to stay on the road! Here at Wolverhampton Commercials we specialise in making the entire process go as smoothly as possible. Our properly trained and fully experienced mechanics will carry out a full, thorough and reliable MOT service, so you can rest assured that your vehicle will be in full and safe working order once completed. Our experts are more than happy to answer any questions you might have, regardless of your vehicle make or model.
The MOT ensures that your vehicle is road safe and compliant with environmental standards. You must get an MOT for your vehicle by the third anniversary of its registration, or if your vehicle is over three years old, on the anniversary of its last MOT service.
It’s important to know that without a valid MOT you can be fined up to £1,000. However, you don’t need to get an MOT if it hasn’t yet reached the age its first service is required, or if your car/motorbike was manufactured before 1960. There is a full list of exempt vehicles on a form known as a V112, which you will need to fill in if your vehicle is listed so that you can tax it.
During the service, your vehicle will be checked to make sure all the necessary parts and functions meet the legal requirements.

There are two types of MOT service:
Interim Service
This test is carried out by way of maintaining your vehicle’s overall performance and efficiency. Vehicles with a regular service history are usually deemed more desirable if you are thinking of later selling your vehicle, and will more than likely retain a higher resale value.
Our interim service is required if your vehicle covers a high amount of annual mileage – the UK national average is approximately 8,000 miles per year.
Full Service
Most vehicles require a full service at least once a year – this includes all of the checks carried out during an interim service, plus additional measures by way of ensuring that your vehicle is safe, not just for you but other road users as well.
Note: It is advisable to always refer to your vehicle handbook for guidance on the type of service it requires.
